Filmmaker Ramenahalli Jagannatha views OTT platforms as a boon for emerging directors. According to him, the revenue share from online streaming services has helped him sustain after his initial film release. Some movies that may struggle to find an audience in theaters can find success on OTT platforms. Jagannatha is optimistic about this trend, mentioning that while people still enjoy the big-screen experience in theaters, OTT platforms offer alternative avenues for filmmakers.
Jagannatha is set to start filming his second project, "Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige," a dysfunctional family drama exploring a single parent's love for his son in Kalasa, Kudremukh, and Mudigere in October. Drawing inspiration from his strength in emotions, he continues to craft stories around this theme. His creative influences stem from literature, particularly novels by authors such as Poornachandra Tejaswi, SL Bhyrappa, and Shivaram Karanth, despite his engineering background. While he finds inspiration from the characters around him, translating them visually on screen as a director poses challenges.
Jagannatha sheds light on the time-consuming nature of the filmmaking process, explaining that various factors, including business considerations, must align for a project to materialize. He emphasizes the need for constant refinement during the scripting stage and acknowledges the lengthy periods between projects for new filmmakers like himself.
